DaimlerChrysler to Sell Smart Car in US - MSN Money
The article claims that DaimlerChrysler plans to sell the fortwo Smart Car for less than $15,000. I hope they sell it for a lot less; like $5000 less. see, Toyota has already brought its fuel-efficient Yaris over. The MSRP of the base model is just slightly over $10,000. would people pay $5,000 in mark-up for a cuter, but smaller and less practical vehicle? I wouldn't. There are so many other nice--think performance, practical, or economical--cars out there for that price range. Could cuteness be a "nice" trait? if their goal is to produce a premium sub-compact like the Mini, then they might succeed in the same nitch. But they won't win the heart of masses.
